First and foremost, I would like to welcome all of our Chimo
families back for the 2020-2021 school year. My name is Jacqueline Gagnon
(formerly Slowey) and I am the new Principal at Chimo Elementary School. While I am new to Chimo, many may not be
aware that I actually arrived here the first week of March, 2020. Little did any of us really understand at that
time, what March was going to bring to the school, our community and the world. Since
that time, I have had the privilege of working with the incredible staff at
Chimo as we have been learning together how to support our students, families
and each other through all the complexities of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year, I am delighted to be working with Sara Woodley. Mrs. Woodley will be the new Vice Principal
at Chimo. However, she is far from new to
Chimo as she is a proud “Charger” of more than 12 years. Mrs. Woodley’s knowledge of the school and
community has been invaluable this summer as we developed the school’s plan.
Our school reopening plan for 2020 is aligned with both the
UCDSB Return to School Plan and the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Health Unit’s
specific recommendations for schools. While our routines and practices will be quite
different this year, our priorities will remain the same. At Chimo, we are and continue to be committed
to providing:
- A school environment that is
physically and mentally healthy. We
remain committed to protecting the well-being of our students and staff.
- A world class educational program for
all our students. This year, both
in person and virtually.
Working together,
our mission at Chimo is to prepare all of our students for a successful life.
As we move
through this school year, I am looking forward to working with the entire Chimo
community to ensure that your child has a safe and successful year. If you have any questions, concerns or
thumb’s up regarding how our school year is progressing, please enter your
comments in the survey below.
